Reading and Writing for Social Studies: Contemporary World Issues

Course Description

This theme based English course integrates reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills around assignments and activities focusing on contemporary world issues. Students will examine diverse societies from around the world and explore the major issues that affect our ability to connect and thrive as a global community. Possible topics include: homelessness, poverty, immigration, human rights, and social and economic inequities. Students in the HS+ program can earn possible Social Studies (Contemporary World Issues), English, and/or elective credits.
