Reading and Writing for the Sciences: Biology

Course Description
This theme based English course integrates reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills around assignments and activities focusing on biology. Students will evaluate information scientifically in the context of their own lives. Topics include scientific method and literacy; basic cellular anatomy and biochemical processes; evolution; diversity of life; and ethical issues related to scientific and medical research. Laboratories are included. Students in the HS+ program can earn Science, Lab Science, Contemporary World Issues, English, and/or elective credits towards their diploma.
