Human Services Coordination Best Practices

Human Services Education, Social and Behavioral Sciences

This course is a survey of service coordination skills for Human Services including Substance Use Disorder programs. Students will implement essential functions of service coordination – intake processes, screening, assessment, service/treatment planning, service notes, referral, crisis intervention, supervision, consultation, and discharge planning.

Per WAC 246-811-030, the course content meets the educational requirements of topics:
Substance abuse and addiction treatment methods(c)
Understanding addiction placement, continuing care, and discharge criteria, including American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria (d)
Substance use disorder clinical evaluation (screening and referral to include comorbidity) (f)
Substance use disorder treatment planning (h)
Referral and use of community resources (i)
Service coordination (implementing the treatment plan, consulting, continuing assessment and treatment planning) (j)
Documentation, to include, screening, intake, assessment, treatment plan, clinical reports, clinical progress notes, discharge summaries, and other client related data (q)
Substance use disorder confidentiality (r)
Adolescent substance use disorder assessment and treatment (u)
Substance use disorder case management (v)
Substance use disorder rules and regulation (w)
