Reading and Writing for the Sciences: Health Science

Course Description

This theme based English course integrates reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills around assignments and activities focusing on health science. Students will evaluate information scientifically in the context of their own lives. Possible topics include nutrition; stress management; fitness; disease prevention and control; drug addiction and recovery; growth and development; and the impacts of environmental, family and cultural factors on health. Laboratories are included. Students in the HS+ program can earn Science, Lab Science, Contemporary World Issues, Health, English, and/or elective credits towards their diploma.
