Children's Literature is the study of classic and contemporary fiction and poetry for children, from the early reading levels through high school. Although the course is intended for students who plan to become teachers, it is open to all students who meet the prerequisites. Students examine and critique a variety of works on the basis of the elements of literature, such as plot, character, theme, setting, and style. They research the historical contexts of the works. They present their critiques and findings in written form, along with specific suggestions for teaching the works. (Multicultural & Writing-Intensive Course)
