Catalog Description
The Associate in Biology is a state-recognized Direct Transfer Agreement / Major Related Program (DTA/MRP) designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution to major in biology or related fields in the natural sciences.
Graduates of this degree enter their transfer institution with junior standing with most or all lower-division general education requirements satisfied. Students may need to complete additional coursework during their junior and senior years, depending on the requirements of the transfer institution.
Admission to specific natural science programs is competitive and not guaranteed. Requirements such as minimum GPA, prerequisite courses, and application deadlines vary by institution and should be reviewed early in the planning process. Students are strongly encouraged to work with an advisor to develop an academic plan that meets both TCC degree requirements and transfer institution admissions. Students should also consult with their intended transfer institution on which courses best support or may be required as prerequisites for the institution or major. Early and careful planning is essential, especially for sequential courses and prerequisites offered on limited schedules.
