Students are required to take this class in their first or second quarter at TCC.
Exemptions:
Students who have completed 30 or more credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at TCC before beginning a degree that requires College 101.
Students who transfer in 30 or more credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Students who have an Associate or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Students who have a Bachelor’s degree from another country.
Students who have successfully completed an equivalent success course at another institution.
Students who have successfully completed HD 101 (prior to Fall 2022), FRSH 100 or ABE 019 at TCC.
Students who are granted an exemption from COL 101 will need to complete additional college level elective credits to complete the required 90 credits for the degree.
Students looking to strengthen their reading and writing skills, and to increase their success in ENGL&101 are encouraged to enroll concurrently in course: Tools for Reading and Writing. This course may be applied as a college-level elective towards degree requirements.

Psychology Specialization Course
Students looking to strengthen their skill base with pre-requisite topics are encouraged to enroll concurrently in course.
Courses must be selected from at least two disciplines (two different prefix areas).
No more than 10 credits allowed from any one discipline
No more than 5 credits in world language at the 100 level.
No more than 5 credits in performance/skill (P/S) courses may be used to satisfy this requirement
Courses must be selected from at least two disciplines.
No more than 10 credits from any one discipline.
Select 5 credits from the Social Science distribution course list from a discipline other than Psychology (PSYC/PSYC&)

Courses must be selected from at least two disciplines.
Must include at least 10 credits from the courses listed as Biological, Earth, and Physical Sciences on the Natural Sciences Distribution Course List.
No more than 10 credits allowed from any one discipline
Must include at least one laboratory course
No more than 5 credits allowed from a MATH prefixed course
A single course may be used to satisfy the multicultural requirement, one specialization requirement, and one distribution requirement. Please consult the listings under each distribution area requirement to identify courses that fulfill both criteria.
For the Psychology Specialization, students may apply a single Multicultural-designated course from the Social Science Distribution to fulfill up to three requirements simultaneously - multicultural requirement, one specialization requirement, and one distribution requirement.
This overlap does not reduce the total degree requirement of 90 quarter credits.
