The Early Childhood Education State Certificate: Emphasis on Children with Exceptionalities certificate is the third in a series of stackable certificates within the Early Childhood Education program. This certificate builds upon the skills developed in the program and program. The curriculum emphasizes inclusive practices and is especially attuned to working with children from diverse cultural, linguistic, and ability backgrounds. Graduates of the program are equipped for employment in a wide range of early learning environments, including:

  • Preschools and childcare centers

  • Family child care settings

  • Head Start and ECEAP programs

  • Kindergarten through third grade classrooms (as teacher assistants)

  • Early intervention programs (as teacher assistants)

  • Other community-based early learning initiatives

The curriculum is aligned with Washington State Core Competencies for Early Care and Education Professionals.

To complete the Early Childhood Education State Certificate: Emphasis on Children with Exceptionalities, students must first complete the program and program.
