Note: Students who possess EMT Intermediate Certification for a minimum of one year that have not completed their EMT Basic Certificate at TCC will receive Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credits that are equivalent to course - Emergency Medical Technician & course - Emergency Medical Technician Lab for a total of 12 credits. Students who earn credit EMS110 and EMS111 through Prior Learning Assessment are not eligible to earn the EMT Certificate due to residency requirements.Minimum of one-year of pre-hospital experience working as an EMT prior to the application deadline.
Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in prerequisite courses.
Minimum C (2.0) in each prerequisite course.
Prerequiste courses must be completed within the past 7 years.
Students who completed prerequisite coursework at a college other than TCC must submit an official transcript to Enrollment Services for evaluation. All coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution to be considered for equivalency.

BIOL&241 and BIOL&242 recommended for students planning to transfer to a bachelor's degree program in Emergency Medical Services.
A minimum of 62 quarter credit hours in courses numbered 100 or above.
At least 25% of the applicable credits must be earned at Tacoma Community College

A cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in the coursework applied to the certificate
