Catalog Description

Health Information Management (HIM) Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program prepares students for employment in the increasingly integrated and technologically complex Health Information Management profession.  With curriculum that includes disciplines of medicine, management, finance, information technology, and healthcare law, graduates are able to support clinicians, administrators, technology designers, and information technology professionals in the health industry.

The HIM BAS program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Successful graduates are eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) national credential exam sponsored by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Career Opportunities
The Health Information Management (HIM) program prepares students for administrative employment in a wide variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, surgery centers, skilled nursing facilities, state or federal health agencies and more.  Career opportunities include (but not limited to) both remote and in-person roles in revenue cycle, operations or administration, compliance/risk management, and informatics or data analysis.
