Simple Requirements
Courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C or higher.
No more than 3.0 credits of PE activity courses can be used to satisfy degree requirements.
Required prior to beginning 300 level coursework.
Students who hold the Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Associate Certification may be able to use it as a substitute for CU103 . To initiate the substitution process or for additional information, students should contact Computer User (CU) Coordinator Christine Cerny.

To ensure readiness for advanced coursework in Health Information Management, students must demonstrate prior work experience or successful completion of college-level coursework in the following subject areas:
Healthcare Systems
Medical Records and Standards
Healthcare Data Quality
Hospital Statistics
Healthcare Payment Methodologies and Classification Systems
Computer Concepts for Health Information
Students whose background in one or more of these areas is found to be insufficient—based on a review conducted by the Program Chair—will be required to enroll in HIM 299 to address the identified gaps.
Students who meet this requirement through prior work experience or coursework may need to complete additional college-level electives to satisfy the 180-credit requirement for the degree.
